The son of a politically progressive couple commits an act of racial violence that is captured on film, causing him to be celebrated by far-right zealots and creating a shocking situation for his parents and their best friends, a racially mixed couple. Can a friendship survive such an event, especially when the couple has shown no inclination to disavow their son's behavior? How far do you go to protect a child whose beliefs are anathema to you?
